I really like the use of the metal with the leather as well.  What is "white metal" and is it something that is cast or shaped?

Yea it's a wonderful combination!
"White metal" it calls as well as "arzanto" or "German silver".
I do not know what is the most common name in English, and I use the "white metal".
Shaped, yes. It comes in different thicknesses. Ι buy it in sheets.
Cast I don't know, but such is a metal it's most likely.
I hope I helped!

In English the metal technique where the metal is shaped from the back with dapping punches, burnishers and other tools is called "Repousse" (yes, we use the French word).
In English, Engraving is only when you remove material with cutting tools to make the design. "Chasing" is when the shaping is done from the top side, and it looks like you did a little of that too on this piece.

This is very nice work, and well done.

You're VERY welcome.
I'm glad I could help. I only speak english well, and I know how hard it can be to find the right word when trying to talk to artists who don't speak much english. So I try to help when it is going the other way. :)

yes, I know what you mean! I believe "dapping punches" would be the most correct name for the tool. Well, nicely done :D

Metal is arzanto. I found in other countries call it as white metal or nickel silver or German silver.
